Sports has been called an "international language". Even at a recreational level, it provides open doors in countries closed to the good news of Jesus.
(This is true in nations where traditional missionary efforts are not allowed or effective). At the elite level, we see the potential of sports influencing across many cultures and demographic groups, through the Olympics and other international competitions.
Hence in ISLT(International Sports Leaders Training) level 1, you will learn about strategies to engage different sports participants, Sports and Bible, Building effective teams, Partnership, Leadership and Cultural studies.
Program in brief:
- Sports & Bible:
Defining sport and looking at what is good and bad sport. Understand the influence and potential of sport in our culture and era
Uncovering the biblical values of talents and relationship which are congruent to the accepted universal values in sports
Sports arena is one of the most effective and best places to learn and inculcate leadership skills and principles. The importance of role model in Sports; and how Christian coaches and athletes uses the bible as their game plan book for spiritual workouts.
- Effective team building
Teaching team concept through experiential learning with biblical foundation, showing the importance of effective team in the world of sports and the extension of the kingdom of God
- Cultural studies
Provide basic framework for understanding and the impact that culture has on our regions, nations and the world. Using sport to share the gospel in different cultures
Understand and explain Partnerships and working through Partnership in an ever changing world. Teach practical framework of Partnership for use in sports ministry
